Kander Books
Last updated 10 October 2026
Kander Books does not collect anything about you. There is no account, no server and no database. Your books stay on the device you typed them on. We never see them.
This covers Kander Books, the bookkeeping app at books.getkander.com.
It is operated by Kander in Manitoba, Canada.
Kander Books is part of the Kander suite, but it is a separate app from the Kander app at app.getkander.com, which has accounts and its own privacy policy. This policy covers Kander Books only.
Nothing.
There is no sign up, so we never ask for your name, your email, your phone number or your address. There is no account to create. There is no payment, so we never see a card. We do not know who you are and we have no way to find out.
In your own browser's storage, on the device you used. They are not uploaded, not synced and not backed up by us, because there is nowhere for them to go.
This cuts both ways and you should know the sharp side. If you clear your browsing data, use a private window, or lose the device, your books go with it. We cannot get them back, because we never had them. Use Save a backup file, under You, and keep the file somewhere safe. After a big week is a good habit.
We do not ask for a Social Insurance Number and the app will not keep one. Payroll once had a field for it. It was removed, and the app now deletes a SIN out of any older backup file it opens. The Privacy Commissioner's position is that a private business may only collect a SIN where it genuinely needs it for income reporting, and this app does not file anything, so it does not need one.
The app loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. That is the only outside request it makes. When it happens, Google receives the ordinary things any web request carries: your IP address and your browser type. Google's handling of that is covered by their own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
There is nothing else. No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising, no third-party scripts, no embedded content.
The year-end package file makes the same font request when it is opened, including on your accountant's computer.
The page is served by Vercel. Like any web host, their servers record ordinary request logs such as the IP address and the time of the request. Those logs are about the request for the page. They do not contain your books, because your books never leave your device.
Only when you send it, by pressing a button:
Each of those is you choosing to send something to someone. Where it goes after that is between you and them, and this policy does not follow it there.
None. The app sets no cookies and uses no tracking storage. The only thing stored on your device is your own books, and a note of which screen you had open.
Kander Books is a tool for running a business and is not intended for anyone under 18.
Everything above is true because your books never leave your device. If a future version keeps books on a server, with accounts, then it would hold other people's financial records and this policy would no longer describe it. It would be rewritten before that version ships, not after, and it would have to deal with Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA), and with Quebec's Law 25 if any customer or any of their employees lives in Quebec.
If it changes, the date at the top changes with it.
There is no support address for Kander Books. There is no account to recover and nothing held about you to ask for, because nothing is collected. If that ever changes, a contact goes here before it does, not after.
If you are in Canada and you think a privacy question has not been handled properly, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
